In the UK and Ireland, an ad's average loudness must be -23 LUFS (±0.5 LU) (see UK Tech Specs and File failed QC: Audio Loudness). Some ads have permission to be quieter than this. These are called Intentionally Quiet (IQ) ads.
IQ ads – what you need first
- Permission to deliver the ad as IQ. Confirm with the broadcaster that they'll accept it before you deliver. Cape Advanced TV can't be responsible if an IQ ad is rejected without that permission.
IQ ads – how to deliver
- Create your campaign and ad as normal.
- Contact Customer Success via chat, and tell them which ad is IQ. They will set the QC so your quieter file can pass.
- Upload the file as normal.
IQ ads – things to check
- The file must still include audio channels, even if they are silent. Video-only files fail QC.
- All other QC checks, such as format, duration and mute frames, still apply.
IQ ads – when to contact Customer Success
- Before you upload any IQ ad (step 2 above).
- Your IQ file still fails Audio Loudness after Customer Success has set up the ad.
