If your QC report shows Format Settings, GOP in red, the GOP structure of your file doesn't match the specification for your ad.
GOP – reading the QC report
- The value next to Format Settings, GOP is the GOP setting of the uploaded file, not the required one. For example, Variable means the file was exported with a variable GOP.
- To check the required GOP, see Which technical specification should I use for my ad? The specifications list it as GOP Length.
GOP – what it means
GOP (Group of Pictures) is how the video is compressed: a full frame is followed by a set number of frames that only store changes. XDCAM, the default file format for TV, needs a fixed GOP length. AVC-Intra and ProRes store every frame in full, so in practice this check only fails on XDCAM files.
GOP – likely cause
- File fault: the format is right (XDCAM), but the file was exported with a variable GOP. This is the usual cause when Variable is shown.
- Wrong spec: the file is in a different format. If Format is also red, see File failed QC: Format.
GOP – fix
- If Format is also red, fix the format first.
- Otherwise, re-export with a fixed GOP length that matches the specification shown by the View Specs link for your ad. In most edit suites this is a setting such as "fixed GOP" or "GOP length".
- Use the matching Export Guide to check your settings, then upload the file again.
GOP – when to contact Customer Success
- You’ve exported the file using the specification shown by the View Specs link for the ad in your campaign, but it still fails this check.
