If your QC report shows Scan type in red, your file uses the wrong method to build the picture: interlaced or progressive.
Scan type – reading the QC report
- The value next to Scan type is the scan type of the uploaded file, not the required one. For example, Progressive means your file is progressive.
- To check the required scan type, see Which technical specification should I use for my ad?
Scan type – what it means
Scan type is how each frame of the picture is built.
- Interlaced: each frame is split into two fields, one with the odd lines and one with the even lines, and the two fields are shown one after the other.
- Progressive: the whole frame is shown at once.
TV specifications generally use interlaced. Digital specifications use progressive.
Scan type – likely cause
This is usually a wrong spec. Common causes:
- The file was made for a different ad type, for example a progressive Digital file uploaded for a TV ad.
- The scan type was set incorrectly in the export settings.
Scan type – fix
- Click View Specs on your ad to see the scan type your file must have.
- Re-export the file with that scan type using the matching Export Guide.
- Upload the file again.
Scan type – when to contact Customer Success
- You’ve exported the file using the specification shown by the View Specs link for the ad in your campaign, but it still fails this check.
