An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a unique code for a sound recording or music video.
It is a unique, 12-character alphanumeric identifier used to track and manage recordings across the global music industry.
Think of it as a barcode for a specific track. While a UPC (Universal Product Code) identifies an entire album or single release, the ISRC identifies the individual song or recording itself.
The format of the ISRC is as follows...
Country-Registrant-Year-Designation
Example:
FR-ABC-26-01234
FR = 2 character Country Code (e.g., "FR" for France, "GB" for Great Britain, etc...)
ABC = 3 character Registrant Code assigned to the entity (label or artist)
26 = 2 digits for the Year of Reference (e.g., "26" for 2026)
01234 = 5 digits for the Designation Code (a unique number assigned to that specific track / music video)
Please note: You must provide a Video ISRC code and not an audio one.
Even if the audio in the music video is identical to the album version, the video itself is a separate asset and requires its own unique code.
