The technical specification your ad must follow depends on the region and ad type set on the ad in Cape Advanced TV. The quickest and most reliable way to find the right specification is to click the View Specs link on the ad. This opens the correct specification in the Help Centre.
How the specification is chosen
Each ad in Cape Advanced TV has a region and an ad type. Together they decide which specification applies:
- Region: TV specifications differ by country or region. For example, a UK TV ad uses the UK & ROI specification, and a France TV ad uses the France specification.
- Ad type: TV, Digital, Premium Streaming, Digital Out Of Home (DOOH) and Longform ads each have their own specifications. For example, a France TV ad and a France Digital ad use different specifications.
- Digital ads: there is one global Digital specification, so a UK Digital ad and a France Digital ad use the same specification.
- File format: most accounts use XDCAM. Some accounts are set up for ProRes or AVC-Intra instead, and their ads use the ProRes or AVC-Intra version of the specification.
Because of this, always check the specification on the ad itself, rather than choosing one from the Help Centre.
How to find the specification for your ad
The View Specs link appears in two places. Both open the same specification.
In the Edit Ad window
- Open the campaign and find the ad in the Ads list.
- Click the pencil icon (Edit ad) next to the ad.
- Below Add file, click View Specs.
In the Upload File window
When you upload a file to the ad, click View Specs at the bottom of the Upload File window.
Why this matters
All files uploaded to Cape Advanced TV are checked automatically against the specification for the ad. A file made to the wrong specification (for example ProRes instead of XDCAM, or a Digital file for a TV ad) will fail the check. Opening the specification from View Specs makes sure you are always using the correct, up-to-date version.
